Principles & Priorities

Improve people’s lives by lowering costs and improving quality of life. We need to do more to curb rising utility bills and make housing more affordable.

• We need communication plans for housing & zoning policy changes, for example, about accessory dwelling units

• We need housing policies that do more than address supply, including an ordinance to ban algorithmic rent price fixing & to restrict private equity home ownership

• We need to reduce flat customer charges on utility bills to give residents more control over their bills and greater incentives for efficiency

Listen: Make all people, not just the favored and well connected, feel like they’re being heard.

• I am going to set an example by holding town halls, office hours, and other events to engage with residents

• I am going to push for the creation of new boards to give people more opportunities to serve

• I aim to reform the process for filling council vacancies by amending the city charter to guarantee an open and transparent process

Protect our future by planning to respond to climate change and other potential future crises.

• Climate change is here, but the city lacks a climate action plan. We need to create one that sets goals for reducing and eliminating carbon emissions while also planning for mitigation

• Trump's Big B#!!$#&t Bill is eliminating tax credits for renewable energy, so we need to act now to maximize local investments before the deadline

• We need more local renewable energy not only to reduce Westerville's carbon footprint but also to reduce the increasing electric transmission costs (over $1M per month) that are being paid by residents
